Mini 50th anniversary

MINI celebrates his birthday. Exactly 50 years ago, on 26 August 1959, the classic Mini was first presented to the public. That day began an extraordinary success story. One reason enough for MINI to put his sights on the future but always remembering their roots and tradition. For its anniversary Mini is making a multitude of events such as the presentation of the new MINI Coupe Concept.

This vehicle shows that the design of the MINI is able to give new life to the basic values of the brand and, in turn, exploit the opportunities offered by modern technology of engines and chassis, creating the foundation for a bright future for the brand. This new concept car is a radical two-seater sports, which will premiere at the International Motor Show in Frankfurt (IAA) between 17 and 27 September 2009. This car is a very promising advance of the future development of the model range of the brand. And the common denominator that distinguishes every MINI is again, the source of inspiration for a new proposal to enjoy driving. The MINI Coupe Concept Coupé represents the ideal of a car that has been conceived with the sole purpose to arouse enthusiasm and to ensure that every trip becomes a very special experience.
This concept car with two seats has been designed in such a way that may lead the most powerful engine that currently have the MINI range. With the Twin-Scroll Turbo with 1,600 cc, of the MINI John Cooper Works, this car has become a sports car. This tetracilíndricas has an output of 155 kW/211 hp and maximum torque of 260 Nm and with overboost function, it can even be 280 Nm. The MINI Concept Coupe equipped with this engine offers everything needed to overcome the performance of the MINI John Cooper Works. Moreover, this has been designed in accordance with the development strategy EfficientDynamics from BMW group. The MINI Coupe Concept can enjoy driving polluting less, and also, in a particularly attractive way, very much agree with what MINI understand as MINIMALISM.
