Lithium battery, less recharge time and less pollution are the highlights of this new challenge, for a smoke-free future.

The company Smart starts, finishing this year, the production of a new electric version of its existing model fortwo, which assembles a lithium-ion battery, with greater autonomy and a shorter period of recharge, as announced by the company during the presentation of their prototype at the International Auto Salon on Detroit.

Bet that makes Smart for the use of Lithium-Ion batteries is due to they have better benefits than previous generations of the same, creating the possibility of a longer duration, despite being smaller and require less time to recharge, among other advantages.

All the progress and development of electric models of this company goes to care of the environment and reduce the impact has on it the vehicles manufacture. In addition, the company announced it is exploring the possibility of introducing the electric fortwo in the U.S. market.

The launch of this model comes after the launch of a pilot project in London, which proved one hundred of electric units in order to examine the performance of this car in everyday use, as stated by the brand belongs to Daimler Group.

All this comes after that in September 2008, Daimler and RWE electricity German company starts the project "e-mobility Berlin", in which both companies are jointly creating the conditions for achieving an emission-free mobility, through electric cars, all under the support of Germany and Berlin government.

Smart take a step towards a future where the use and design do not collide directly with the natural environment around us.
