It comes with the sure bet to hold the best aerodynamic coefficient with 0.24 Cx. One of the oldest and most elegant brand at worldwide, such as Mercedes, has also sought to invest in futuristic and smoothed forms, creating a new E-Class Coupé. Its base price is 46,750 euros, and his style will not leave indifferent to the lovers of this brand.

A change was needed. Just four months ago, Mercedes presented the new E-Class sedan to the press. With the new edition of best-selling car from Stuttgart barely on the dealers, Mercedes brings to light the hidden surprise: The new E-Class Coupé. In this way, the brand retire to CLK after 13 years.

The creativity of this brand, designers of great models, have managed to join the expressive and angular design of the saloon car and the elegant side of sports coupé. Typical elements such as the aesthetic and unbroken side of the windows thanks to the absence of the B pillar and the steep radiator grille with the Mercedes star integrated, must be present obviously.

The new front headlamps with four eyes that have the form of a diamond also adorns the coupé, but it lights have a more angled to highlight the sporting character of the two doors. Overall, the front of the Coupé is more sharp and dynamic. By contrast, the controversial rear has not been altered.

Assistance primarily

Some of its details, go far beyond aesthetics and focusing on safe driving: PreSafe brakes, recognition of traffic signals, the tire sensor, the adaptive regulation of the road lights and the active bonnet are serial included. In addition the design team and engineers have achieved the more aerodynamic two-door car model on the worldwide.

With an aerodynamic coefficient of 0.24 beats by 0.1 the mark of the previous edition of the respectable saloon. No one will be surprised with all the assistants and systems for active and passive safety in the Coupé.

Direct injection

Among the new features are, apart from the four-cylinder diesel E250 CDI (204 hp and consumption of 5.1 liters), two petrol engines with direct injection. Until early 2010 with the incorporation of the E200 with automatic start and stop automatically (see box), the E250 CGI is 204 hp turbo is the entrance engine to the range, with an average consumption of 7.2 liters.

Above is the V6 engine with 292 HP of E350 CGI, with an average consumption of 8.5 liters. The E250 CGI with automatic five-speed gearbox reaches between 2000 and 4300 rounds with a maximum torque of 310 Nm, almost reminds her of the power of a diesel engine. Such power can speed up the Coupé from 0 to 100 in 7.5 seconds. His temperament is somewhat mitigated, however, thanks to the automatic transmission, which pause a second on spontaneous acceleration. This moment of inertia also takes place in the E350 with 7G Tronic transmission.

To gain the Coupé should be paid at least € 46,750, € 3,000 more than the cheapest saloon, the E220 CDI, whose four-cylinder diesel engine and 170 HP will be incorporated soon to Coupe, displacing the E250 CGI version from entrance to the range and reducing the starting price.

For those traveling in pairs, the E-Class Coupé is certainly a more elegant alternative to the saloon. This aerodynamic two-door has shaken the reputation of car for retired people wich have the CLK, offering in its place a smooth driving for the driver. The powerful engine and more aggressive throttle response and management reinforce this image. Only the mechanism that provides the safety belt reminds the car for retired people.
